Coptic Binding is an ancient style of bookbinding which is perfect for learning in a day. The stylish sewing is not only pretty but allows the book to lay flat when open, making it perfect for both writing and sketching. The workshop will be held at the lovely Westridge Craft Studio in Highclere on Sunday 30th June from 10.30am until 4.30pm. This studio is accessed by a flight of stairs.

At this workshop you will learn:

About the importance of Paper grain

How to use basic Book binding tools

Learn how to cut and fold signatures to create your book pages.

How to cover the hardback covers of your journal with decorative paper.

To sew your pages and cover together, using Coptic and Kettle stitches.

At the end of the workshop, you will take home your own unique journal and a set of instructions so that you can make other books at home. You may purchase any of the tools that you have used during the day. Tea and cake will be served during the workshop, but you will need to bring your own packed lunch.

This workshop is designed for over 14’s, although any under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult, that adult does not have to take part or buy a space but cannot bring other children.
