Secret Belgian Binding Workshop

This binding is known in the United States as a Crisscross binding but I feel that although accurate, Secret Belgian Binding is so much more enticing. In this class you will learn to use several traditional bookbinding tools, several different weights and types of paper and board. You will be introduced to paper grain and learn of it's importance in binding. You will select your materials and measure, cut and cover your boards before learning how to weave the case together and sew your sections into the book. You will receive a set of comprehensive instructions to take home with you so that you can repeat the process in the comfort of your own home.

There is a maximum of 8 students for this workshop, guaranteeing time and space for individual attention if extra help is needed. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and chatty, with a break for tea and cake.  (If you have special dietary needs please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate.)

The workshop is held at Westridge Studios, Star Lane, Highclere, RG20 9QS      The room we use is on the first floor, there is no lift, so access is by a flight of stairs.

This workshop is for over 18's; if you are under 18 please ask an appropriate adult to contact me to discuss.

Participants must have good grip, and normal strength in both hands as we will be using several very sharp knives. This is for your own safety. If this or the first floor nature of this course is a problem for you please get in touch as a 1:1 class in your home may be more appropriate and can be arranged.

Cancelation - If you give 14 days notice then there is a 50%  refund. Less than 14 days notice is non refundable.
